Made from a flexible rubber-like material that is acrylic- free and hypoallergenic. How do I know if I need a nightguard?

What is a nightguard used for?
A nightguard is a clear, lightweight dental appliance which fits over your upper or lower teeth to protect them from the effects of teeth grinding (bruxism) and jaw clenching, which can occur during sleep. It also prevents damage to your upper and lower teeth from grinding against each other, which can cause trauma to your teeth and jaw. By cushioning and distributing the force of clenching, it can ease the jaw pain, headaches, earaches and facial pain associated with bruxism and TMJ disorders.
Should I get a custom-made or over-the-counter (OTC) nightguard?
Custom-fit nightguards made from an impression of your teeth offer the best fit, comfort, and protection. They are more durable and can last for several years, making them a more cost-effective long-term solution compared to the OTC or boil-and-bite versions. A poor nightguard fit can also lead to new dental problems.
How often should I wear my nightguard?
It is recommended to wear your nightguard every night, for as long as you are sleeping, to ensure predictable protection. For those with severe bruxism issues, wearing it during the day might also be recommended. A nightguard treats the symptoms and prevents damage caused by grinding, but does not address the underlying cause of bruxism.
How do I clean and care for my nightguard?
To keep your nightguard functional and hygienic, daily cleaning is essential. Rinse your nightguard with cold water immediately after each use. Brush it gently with a soft brush and mild soap. For a deeper cleaning, you can use specialized tablets, but avoid soaking the guard for longer than an hour. Always store your nightguard in a clean and dry storage case to protect it from damage and contamination. Never use hot water, as this can warp the guard’s shape and ruin the fit.

Really terrific night guard. Had one previously made by my dentist (much more costly!), and haven’t been able to wear that one because it’s so hard and uncomfortable.
