Custom Partial Dentures, Made From Your At-Home Impression

Partial Dentures FAQ

What are partial dentures?

Partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth in your upper or lower mouth. They help you chew and speak, and they keep your remaining teeth from shifting over time. Take them out at night to clean them. They are not meant to be worn 24 hours a day.

What are the different types of partial dentures?

The main types are flexible, Nesbit (single tooth), acrylic and Essix (clear retainer). Acrylic partials cost less and are easy to replace. Flexible partials suit people who don't want metal or acrylic, or who have material allergies. The table above shows which type fits which need.

How much do partial dentures cost?

A dentist usually charges $1,100 to $1,900 or more. Ours start at $329, with the impression kit and 30 days of adjustments included.

How should a partial denture fit?

Upper or lower, front or back, a partial should fit snugly and comfortably. A good fit starts with an accurate impression, which creates the seal that holds it in place.

How long do partial dentures last?

A quality partial lasts about 3 to 8 years. Your jaw changes shape over time, so a partial may need replacing. If you lose more teeth, you will need a new one.

How long should I wear a partial denture?

Wearing it all day at first can feel a little sore, but it shows where it needs adjusting. If it presses too hard in one spot, we adjust it so it feels comfortable. Adjustments are free for the first 30 days.

What should I expect when getting partial dentures?

Most people need a couple of days to get used to a new partial. In the first one to two days your speech and eating may feel different. Your mouth, tongue and face muscles adapt quickly.

How do I care for my removable partial denture?

Clean it with a soft denture brush and a denture cleaning solution, not toothpaste. When you're not wearing it, keep it in water or a cleaning solution so it holds its shape.

How do I know if I need partial dentures?

If you still have some strong natural teeth, a partial denture is usually the right choice instead of a full denture. Ask your dentist if you are a good candidate.

Can my partial denture match my natural teeth?

Yes. You choose the tooth shade and gum shade when you order, so the partial blends with your own teeth.
